God used the Roman Empire to create conditions in which the new Christian faith could spread rapidly. The peace and commerce and Roman citizenship all helped. Even the later persecution strengthened and proved the durability of true faith in Jesus Christ.

Bronze coins of the Republic period had a different Roman god pictured on each coin size. The back side usually had a prow (front end) of a ship and the name ROMA.
