Counterfeits are frequently present when the genuine has value. The counterfeits on this and the Aretas page have excellent design detail. They appear to be corroded by age, but were probably fed to camels and collected from their dung. "Coins" like these are produced for the unsuspecting tourists. The best protection against counterfeits is to know the genuine intimately. These frauds have the wrong color, file marks on the edges, and reveal the wrong metal (zinc) when scratched.

Jesus warns us that counterfeit faiths will be numerous, especially in the last days. Today there are cults that deceive many by masquerading as Christianity but present a different Jesus. Their spiritual fraud can be exposed by a careful examination of their basic beliefs and by noting doctrine incompatible with Bible teachings. The true Jesus is living, especially in his disciples who study his word and do it. Avoid the spiritual counterfeits by getting to know Jesus personally.
