Paul's brief stay in Thessalonika resulted in a large congregation of those who accepted Jesus as their Messiah, both Jews and Greeks, men and women. The unbelievers started a riot and vented their anger on Jason, at whose house Paul and Silas were staying. That night Paul and Silas were sent away to Berea for their own safety.

From Corinth, several moths later, Paul wrote two letters to this young congregation clarifying his teachings, especially those on the second coming of Jesus Christ and what our activities should be then. These two letters are now included in our Bible and are probably the first of the New Testament books to be written.

This coin was minted in Thessalonika.
