John was told to write the book of Revelation when Domitian was forcing everyone to worship him. During these
times Jesus sent a message of comfort to his flock in Philadelphia. He tells them of their special opportunity,
of his protection, and of their future glory. He has no words of complaint for
them. Jesus just says, "Hold firmly to what you already have, and let nobody
take your prize away from you." (Revelation 3: 7-13)
This coin with a shield and thunderbolt was made in the 2nd-1st century B.C.
