In Acts 8 (about 37 A.D.) Philip explains to a eunuch from Ethiopia that Isaiah 53 speaks of Jesus Christ. The eunuch accepts the Christian faith and is baptised. He then goes back home and shares it with others. Even the rulers become Christian. The resulting Coptic church still exists in Ethiopia today, long after its early start.

Luke 14:27 talks about carrying one's cross. Ethiopian King (525 A.D.) Kaleb's scepter has two crosses. The back side has a small cross on the edge and a huge cross around a gold-filled center.

Let Jesus, like this gold, be in the center of your life. Bear your cross as he tells you to do. ("Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." Psalms 33:12)
