Alexander the Great (336-323 B.C.) ended the Persian Empire and introduced the Greek language and culture to the lands of the Bible. His conquests eliminated much of the language barrier for the early Christian missionaries. The New Testament was therefore written in Greek. The Old Testament was translated into Greek (Septuagint) about 250 B.C.

Though his reign was relatively brief, his coins are abundant.
