The Jewish revolt against Roman occupation lasted from 66 to 70 A.D. The Jews minted their own coins during this time. One proclaims "year two" of the revolt (67 A.D.) on one side and a political slogan, "Freedom of Zion", on the other. Other coins of the time proclaim "Jerusalem the Holy" and "To the Redemption of Zion". The revolt was crushed by the Roman armies under Vespasian and his son Titus. Near the end, in 70 A.D., the Jewish Temple was destroyed. These events were foretold by Jesus. ("...not a single stone...", "...surrounded by armies...", "...disastrous abomination..."; see Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21.)
